Living in Slovakia has been an experience full of learning, new people, and a different way of life. Since arriving, I’ve built a great relationship with both of my host families. They’ve welcomed me like one of their own, and thanks to them, I’ve adapted to life here. At the same time, I’ve become much more independent, navigating a new country, managing daily life, and figuring things out on my own has made me grow a lot.
Bratislava has a vibe that I really like. It’s a city that’s both calm and lively, with beautiful spots, cozy cafés, and a mix of old and modern architecture that makes it unique.
Walking through the streets and seeing the castle lit up at night has become part of my routine, and I enjoy every bit of it. I really love it.
Beyond that, I’ve had the chance to try new activities that I wouldn’t have experienced back home. I learned how to ice skate, which is really fun. I also got to try skiing for the first time, definitely not that easy but so fun. The Christmas markets in the winter, drinking hot chocolate in the Old Town, and seeing the snow in the city felt so magical.
School has been interesting too. Even though I don’t take exams, I’ve been able to participate and learn in a different way.
Of course, exchange isn’t just about the place, it’s also about the people. I’ve made great friends, both locals and other exchange students, and each of them has added something to this experience.
There’s something really special about the trust and connection that builds over time, starting as strangers and ending up like family. Whether it’s my host families, or my friends, who feel like siblings now. These relationships are definitely going to be present in my life once I come back to Argentina.
With a few months left, I’m just making the most of my time here, enjoying the city, the people, and everything this experience has given me.
