The District conference od District 2240 took place from April 6 to 9, 2017. Just like any other year the place of the conference was given by the place of residence of the district governor. The Rotary district governor for 2016/17 was Štěpán de Wolf, who is a member of Rotary club Cheb-Eger. The conference was held in a beautiful spa are Františkovy Lázně, which are not far away from Cheb.

There were 95 exchange students present at the conference, 13 Rotex members and a great number of Rotarians as well. Despite the fact that the official start of the conference was not until Friday April 7, 2017, the group of exchange students from Czechia and Slovakia, some Rotex and Rotary members arrived on Thursday afternoon already to practice the performance of the exchange students for Saturday afternoon as a part of the conference program. Despite long and tiring journey, there was no hesitation to start practicing.

During the rehearsal later that evening everyone had great fun, there was no luck of talent at all, all the performances were great, needing just minor improvements. All of us were nicely surprised by their singing, musical, dancing and other skills. After a wonderful job they were finally allowed to go and have some rest at the hotel.

The next day there was an early wake up and more practicing, because practice makes masters. Students split up into groups and there were new groups to be formed on Saturday morning of American, Colombian, Asian, and mixed students. Nevertheless, they still managed to prepare some perfect performances for the afternoon. The American group lead by Dylan Brown and Chloie Eberhard-Chinn performed a dance to the well know song from Shrek movie All star with Dylan and Chloie doing a step dance. The mixed surprised everybody with singing the famous Lion King song as a group, accompanied by Gabe Sharpless on the guitar.

As a reward the students went to an aquapark in the afternoon to relax and have fun with friends. There was the final rehearsal with costumes in the evening and then came Saturday, finally the day of the performance. The morning was devoted to individual practicing or relax and after lunch the show came. It was an unforgettable performance by all. Not worried, nor nervous were they performing on the stage proud to be representing themselves and their country. We could feel their passion for life and temperament from every single tone or move. They all deserved a great applause from all the Rotarians, Rotex and host families present. After the performance there was a group picture taken to keep the memories not only in their mind and hearts.

The following program for the students was a walk in the marvelous park in the center of Františkovy Lázně. They could taste a sip of several sources of the mineral water there. Honestly speaking, it was not really their cup of tea. You could see them pulling a long face, but just like any other true exchange student, they kept trying and in the end tried all of them, because this was one of the once in a lifetime opportunities.

Saturday night was devoted to a gala with life music for all the Rotary and Rotex members and exchange students with life music.
