As a Rotary exchange student from France, I had the opportunity to spend a year studying in the Czech Republic. This is an experience that is both challenging and incredibly rewarding. My host families are incredibly welcoming and friendly. They went out of their way to help me adjust to my new surroundings and make me feel at home.

Being a Rotary exchange student has allowed me to form close relationships with other exchange students who are also in the program. We come from different parts of the world, but we share a common experience that has brought us closer together. I have made some amazing friends during my time here, and I look forward to creating more memories with them throughout the rest of my exchange year.

This exchange has not only provided me with a unique opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture, but it has also allowed me to mature and develop into a responsible adult. Living in a foreign country on my own has required me to take on new responsibilities and learn how to navigate unfamiliar situations. From managing my little finances to adapting to new social norms, I have had to step out of my comfort zone and rely on myself in ways I never have before. This experience has challenged me in ways that have helped me develop greater self-confidence, independence, and resilience. As I approach the end of my exchange year, I know that the lessons and skills I have gained will stay with me for the rest of my life and serve me well in my future endeavors.

Of course, there were also challenges during my exchange year. Learning a new language and adjusting to a new school system was not always easy. However, I found that the support of my Rotary club and my host family helped me overcome these challenges and grow as a person.

Living in a foreign country is never easy, especially when you are away from your family and friends. At times, I missed the familiar comforts of home. However, I found that the best way to combat these feelings was to immerse myself in the local culture and meet new people.

Overall, my exchange year in the Czech Republic is an incredible experience. I learned so much about myself and the world around me, and I am grateful for the opportunity that Rotary provided me. I would encourage anyone who has the chance to participate in a Rotary exchange program to take advantage of it. It may not always be easy, but it is definitely worth it.
